Proposition 3-17 is trying to pull St. Patrick's Day from the likes of Cinco de Mayo and Mardi Gras and make the day a nationally-recognized paid holiday in the United States.
Springfield's 28th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade marches downtown Saturday at noon. "It's had a long history and has been well attended," St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal and KSMU producer Mike Smith said.
