And on the 24th day or before, God created whiny college kids. Where should I even begin with this piece of drivel?
(deep breath) Ok, first of all, most college students are what everyone in the working world would refer to as "UN-SKILLED labor". How do you get skills? You do your job and you do it well no matter what the customer says. When you do that you get what's called a promotion. If you don't like your $6 or $7 an hour job, then quit! There are plenty of other non-student unskilled laborers that would love to have your "crappy" job.
Your views on customers could not be more ignorant and arrogant. Your arrogance comes from your apparent feeling of power from a position that has no power what so ever. This is the same attitude that justifies you spitting in a customer's food just because you didn't cook it right to begin with.
Your ignorance comes from the fact that all jobs suck, not just $7 service sector jobs, but $60,000 per year management jobs, too. You will always have customers who aren't happy, who are rude, or who you just hate because they breathe. Guess what? It's your JOB to make them as happy as you can and if you don't? More than likely, you lose your job.
Specifically, #3: The customer EXPECTS you to serve them because that's YOUR job. Don't like the pay? Work harder and get some skills. Don't like serving people? Work in a factory or as a cook. Wait... those require customers, too. But at least then your bad, arrogant, and ignorant attitude doesnt have to come into direct contact with them.
I know that non-traditional students like me are in a small minority, but just I'd love to see how much your editorial staff would complain if they had to work 45+ hours a week at a crappy, thankless job; take 15-16 credit hours a semester; AND have a family with two small children to take care of. You people need to get out into the REAL WORLD (not the MTV version) and get out of We Know Everything Already and Are Entitled to Everything-Land.

Sure, if you work a service job, it is your obligation to serve the customer and to endure any unnecessary disrespect a customer may levy on the dead-eyed employee behind the counter. (Continued…)
