Your Mom Fest has nothing to do with mothers and everything to do with great music and campus unification. Your Mom Fest will be performing music from student and local bands all day and long into the night at the Bear Paw on Friday.

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., a variety of different bands will be playing including: Apia Middle-brook, Losing to Apathy, Laddie LexxLou, Catchphrase, Court-ney Lewis, Prozium, Stark Raving Calm, Knife Death, Chuckomo the Octopus and many more.

The music will include a variety of different genres with more acoustic bands playing in the morning and a wider variety of bands from hardcore rock to rap and hip hop playing the rest of the day and night.

Admission is free and people will be able to purchase Your Mom Fest T-shirts or a mix CD with a track or two from all the bands.

Rob Lehr, the producer of Your Mom Fest, would like to invite any student organizations to come and set up tables to promote their own causes. This includes clubs, Greek organizations or religious groups.

"Ideally, I am hoping that this event will be a campus-unifying event where everyone can hang out and enjoy some of Springfield's best bands," Lehr said. "Everyone is welcome as long as they come with open minds."

Lehr has literally produced Your Mom Fest single handedly. However, this is not his first time dealing with managing musical productions. Lehr said he has always had a passion for music but was never the musician type.

So instead, Lehr has helped out at shows for his friends in local bands. Not only has he done the typical roadie jobs of loading, unloading and setting up but also has filmed almost every show in the past year.

From there he said his passion for the music lead him to produce last year's Noodle Fest in hopes to gain publicity for his favorite bands. While he be-lieves the last year's festival was a success, he hopes for a better turn out this year.

"I am hoping that this event will be more universally enjoyable and more people will take a few minutes away from their facebook homework procrastination, and come watch some quality bands."

Lehr is a general business major and found his calling for musical production after going to Michigan and working on an independent film. After returning home he formed his own unofficial production company, "Hambone Production," which is what Your Mom Fest is produced under. He hopes to move to Los Angeles and find a job working in movie production.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I went by Noodlefest last year and was really impressed, so I'll surely swing by again this year.
