These past few weeks, a concept has been thought out and planned to increase the number of visitors to downtown. This concept is "Night on the Town."
The project is designed to help with parking and reservations on nights out. The program starts with three package options.
Package one, Park and Ride, includes free parking, $50 Downtown Dining Dollars to spend on participating downtown businesses and a free drink at the Mudhouse. It also includes a weekly subscription to "It's All Downtown Weekly."
Package two, Door-to-Door Dining, includes a free cab ride to and from downtown. This package costing $100 includes that to spend downtown.
Finally, package three, Dining Deal, costs $200, including priority dinner reservations, and $230 Downtown Dining Dollars are given, to use around town as well.
"We are promoting these packages as a night out with someone special," said Kathryn Vicat-Dlabach, DSA & Walnut Street coordinator and festival assistant for the Urban Districts Alliance. "It makes for a great gift idea and if you are going downtown with a large group we do some of the leg work for the dinner reservation."
Some of the restaurant's participating are Bailey's American Bar and Grille, Kai, Mudhouse and Trolley's. There are a number of other restaurants, venues and stores that can be found at www.itsalldowntown.com.
"It's a pretty sweet deal, when you consider that you spend $50 for the first and you get not only that much back in Dining Dollars, but free parking downtown and a 'bogo' offer at the Mudhouse you defiantly come out ahead," Vicat-Dlabach said. "The other two packages are even sweeter."
