The Missouri State field hockey team scored twice in one game to finish the regular season with a win.
Melissa Millin and Melissa Lantz both scored for the field hockey team this weekend in a 2-1 victory over Ball State.
"We were able to play the full 70 minutes," Bears head coach, Dawn Porter said. "It is good that we were able to get two goals this game."
The Bears scored first in the first half of the game, and then a second time in the second half. Ball State scored a goal in the final seconds of the game for a final score of 2-1.
Missouri State goalkeeper, Kim Kinsella, who currently leads the NCAA in saves with 211, had 25 saves this weekend.
"We stepped up as a whole," Porter said. "Both the offense and the defense were able to complete their goals going into the game."
The Missouri State field hockey team was not able to put a point on the board against the Miami University defense on Friday.
The Bears defense gave the Redhawks 12 shots on goal, which resulted in a final score of 3-0.
The Bears travel to Oxford, Ohio Nov. 1 for the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament and a rematch against Miami (Ohio).
"We are going to have to work on our transition game," Porter said. "They move the ball fast and make quick passes so we are going to have to practice keeping up and intercepting their passes."
