Two events this weekend offer participants food, drink and the chance to help a worthwhile cause.
Organizers are expecting between 1200 to 1500 people at the 20th annual Wine and Food Celebration, according to Rachel Ferguson, project coordinator for the events.
The event, held Sun. at the University Plaza Convention Center, will offer several new attractions this year.
"We have 32 restaurants coming out this year, including several new restaurants. There will also be lots of give-aways from the participating restaurants and a performance by singer/songwriter Mark Chapman," said Ferguson.
The Wind and Food Celebration raises money for children's programming for Ozarks Public Television, Ferguson said.
"We air over 40 hours of children's programming each week, and spend over $600,000 annually broadcasting children's programming," she said.
Tickets for the Wine and Food Celebration can be purchased for $30 in advance at the Brown Derby International Wine Center and all Springfield Andy's Frozen Custard locations.
Another weekend event that raises money for children's programming is the Friday Night TV Dinner.
The event begins at 6:30 tonight at the Nedberry Building downtown.
"The Friday Night TV Dinner begins with cocktails, hors deourves and a silent auction. Dinner is then served (catered by Bijan's)," Ferguson said. "On each guest's table, they will find over $300 in wine. The event also includes a full open bar. After dinner is the live auction, which includes six high-end and very exciting items."
This year is the 5th annual Friday Night TV Dinner.
Tickets for the Friday Night TV Dinner can be purchased for $175 per person by contacting Rachel Ferguson at rachelferguson@missouristate.edu
