To be succinct in my response, I will say that, while I agree freedom of speech is a precious thing, I would like to assert that there are better uses for such speech than what was presented on the Bear Paw a few weeks ago. If we are truly the 'generation of tomorrow', we should reassess our priorities and utilize our voice as a generation to bring into to question more pressing problems of our day as opposed to behaving like petulant teenagers who wish to normalize foul language. Consider Darfur, China in Taiwan, our government's stance towards Pakistan, the environment, or even the misplaced priorities of this university in the way it distributes its funds next time you wish to protest and actually try to behave like a 'generation of tomorrow' seeking to make its voice heard. Words do have meaning, Mr. Eberhard, and the ones we choose to put forth in our arguments can either make or destroy those arguments, so use them to the utmost effect.

You seem to be convinced that by caring about one important issue (our Freedom of Speech) that we are somehow neglecting others. Because we elected to take a stand on one does not exclude us from caring about others, even if one stand was made more publicly. (Continued…)

I'm pretty sure they choose not to edit any of the letters or comments.

I agree with this article. Of all the things in the world that matter and need to be said, you said fuck it. Among all the oppression and corruption, all that is evil in the world all you can muster to say is fuck? The truth is that the monsters that really oppress, and extort, and corrupt the world don't really care if you say your damn word, because your not saying anything else. (Continued…)

Hooray for copy/pasting things I've already said a million times, yet people keep making the same arguments as though I've never tackled them:

You seem to be convinced that by caring about one important issue (our Freedom of Speech) that we are somehow neglecting others. (Continued…)

Hrm, I'm 99% sure I put my own name in for that comment, not Adam's. Weird.
