This Wednesday, the Office of the Provost will host their second lecture in their Public Affairs lecture series, which will feature former New York Times writer Doug McGill.

As part of the "Ethics across the Curriculum" series, McGill will be speaking about ethics in journalism, which will include a panel discussion earlier that day.

Mary Ann Wood, director of public affairs support, believes that this lecture series is very beneficial in emphasizing the university's public affairs mission.

"The idea is to have a wide variety of expert speakers on every aspect of the curriculum that we offer here, but to have all of them speak about ethics," Wood said.

Wood also hopes it can benefit more than just the students majoring in the field of topic. "Ethical decision making affects the way we live. We all have our own form of ethics, it just depends on how much each person has to pool from," said Wood.

The lecture and discussion will be held in PSU 313 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and the lecture by McGill will be held at 7 p.m. in the PSU Theater. The next lecture in the series will be about sports ethics and will be on Jan. 24.
