The office of the Provost will host a student and faculty seminar in Cheek Hall at 4 p.m. today, featuring Dean Tammy Jahnke, from the College of Natural and Applied Sciences.
The theme for next year's Public Affairs Conference will be sustainability, which will address issues of sustaining the earth, environment, and atmosphere.
"As the Dean of Natural and Applied Science, the issue of sustainability isn't just a scientific issue. It's also an issue of politics, economics, business, and life," Jahnke said.
Jahnke wants to lay groundwork for Missouri State to work toward goals in a university-wide discussion on what they can do in the area of sustainability. Jahnke hopes that some goals will be accomplished by 2008 or 2009, and then the university can "run with it."
