Last weekend was bittersweet for the Missouri State volleyball team. On Friday, the Bears lost in four games to Missouri State's archrival Creighton but swept Drake on Saturday in their final home game of the regular season.

Creighton (29-9, 13-4 MVC) came out fast against Missouri State, leading 12-5 right off the back in game one. They took the first game easily, 30-22.

In the second game, the Bears used a late serving run by Thomas to win game two. Missouri State was down 25-19 when Thomas stepped behind the line for her jump float serve. She rattled off 10 in a row to give the Bears a 28-25 lead. They finished off the game 30-26.

In games three and four, Missouri State gave Creighton everything they had but a few bad breaks cost them the last two games, 30-28 and 30-25.

"Creighton played well tonight," associate coach Jeni Jones said. "They just had the better defense tonight. It was just about the exact opposite of what happen last time (when Missouri State played at Creighton earlier this season)."

The Drake win, on the other hand, was especially meaningful to the team as they swept the Bulldogs 30-22, 34-32, 30-23 on senior night for Jamie Adams, Katelyn Panzau and Sara Thomas.

Thomas picked up her 10th double-double of the season with a game high 14 kills on .385 hitting percentage and 16 digs, as well as eight blocks.

Panzau had seven kills, nine digs and three blocks to go along with her 44 assists. Adams added 11 kills, five digs and three blocks.

The moment of the night came late in the second game. With the Bears being down as many as six points for most of the game, came back to tie it up 22-22 before a side out contest broke out.

Drake (7-21, 4-13 MVC) held the advantage at game point, 32-31, before the seniors lined up in the front row and took over the game. Missouri State used a kill from Adams and a kill block from Thomas to get the 33-32 advantage before a Panzau kill block ended out the game for the Bears.

"I liked what we saw tonight, especially from Sara (Thomas) in the M1," head coach Melissa Stokes said. "It did change our rotation up a little, so our communication wasn't as sharp as we are use to, but with another week of practice, we will be ready for this weekend."
