An intramural season ended on Wednesday as four teams met to compete for the right to call themselves the Ultimate Frisbee Coed Intramurals Champions.
The four teams -- Starshine, Nugz, the Spitting Llamas and Homestar Runner -- are all teams that have competed in previous seasons, according to Jacob Baker, a player from the Spitting Llamas.
Starshine took on Nugz in the championship game. The teams started off evenly matched for the first ten minutes of the game. After that, Starshine started to run away with it and won by an 18-5 score.
"We have been doing this since the second semester of my freshman year," Starshine player and team captain Trey Thomure said. "We enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee."
Starshine has been a team for a couple of years and has developed into a dominant squad in the Ultimate Frisbee intramurals world.
They have won the past three championships in a row and have also gone undefeated in them.
Thomure said the team tries to keep things both fun and competitive.
"We are just a group of friends who like to play," Thomure said. "We also like to win."
Three games were played in all, two semifinal games and one championship. Each game consisted of two 20-minute halves.
The first two teams to play were Starshine and Homestar Runners. Starshine won easily, 16-5.
The second game was between the Christian Campus House Spitting Llamas and Nugz. After 40 minutes of game Nugz was able to secure a win and a spot in the championship game with the score of 19-13.
"We beat them pretty bad a few weeks ago," Baker said. "But they were missing some of their best players and they had just finished with another game so we thought that this would be an even match. It wasn't as even as we thought."
