The 13th annual Winterfest weekend begins today at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts and ends Dec. 2.
Missouri State is expecting 36 exhibitors at Hammons Hall this year.
Adela Generally, coordinator for the event, said the event has a festive atmosphere.
"This is not a craft show, it is an art show," Generally said.
"Our catchphrase that patrons always love is 'Buy Art,'" she said. "People can come and spend a few dollars on pieces or a few hundred dollars."
People attending the three-day event can expect to see more than just an art show, Generally said.
"We will have live musicians from all over," she said.
Friday night, the Turtle Island String Quartet is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, while David Benoit's Charlie Brown Christmas will be taking stage at 8 p.m. Tickets for both concerts can be purchased at the Hammons Hall box office.
On the last day of Winterfest, the Missouri State University "Sounds of Christmas" will be performed by the dance and music departments.
Generally said to add to the festivities, holiday music will be playing when musicians are not performing.
In years past, Generally said that Winterfest usually sees up to 13,000 people at the event. She hopes to see just as many this year as well.
The event has no entrance fee, and is open to the public.
