The city of Springfield wants to remind residents to be prepared for emergencies caused by severe winter weather.
At a meeting held by the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management, representatives from the National Weather Service, Springfield Public Works, City Utilities of Springfield and the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross were in attendance to help residents prepare.
Those at the meeting urged Springfield residents to get ready now for hazardous weather conditions such as snow, ice and cold temperatures.
Ryan Nicholls, director of the office of emergency management, said it is a good idea for residents to have necessary items in both their homes and vehicles
"After last year's devastating ice storm, no one should need a reminder of how severe weather can disrupt our lives," Nicholls said.
