The last mandatory informational meeting for those interested in becoming a resident assistant is tonight in the Blair-Shannon grand lounge.
Anyone who wants to continue with the process of becoming a resident assistant must attend one of the informational meetings, according to Scholars House hall director Leslie Amira.
The meeting will include general information and the timeline of the selection process. The assistant director will also go over the expectations and the qualifications required for the position.
"We don't want people to not know what the position entails," Amira said.
They will also go over general interviewing tips.
"It's an excellent opportunity for someone to come and see if the job is really something they want to do," Amira said. "Plus, they will get into small groups with current (resident assistants) and be able to ask questions."
Resident assistants are required to facilitate a social and academic community on their floors as well as assisting freshmen with the transition, Amira said.
"They serve as a role model and encourage students to get involved with the bigger campus," Amira said. "They really foster student leadership."
There will be two "last chance" informational sessions.
The first is Jan. 15 in Blair-Shannon grand lounge at 8 p.m., and the second is Jan. 16 in Hammons basement at 8 p.m.
