Kaldi's, which also has a location in the Battlefield Marketplace, originally approached Churchill's with the idea.
Churchill's allowed Kaldi's to assume its contract with the university, which lasts until 2010, PSU Director Thomas Lane said.
"Churchill's, at the time that it was approached by Kaldi's, was looking to consolidate its business into more of a wholesale part of its business rather than retail," Lane said. "Kaldi's was very excited about expanding its retail presence, so it seemed like a good match."
Dan Green, manager of Kaldi's, said it hopes to keep the quality of its coffee up to Missouri State standards.
"Coffee is our passion," he said. "We hope to keep the quality up if not improve it."
According to Green, Kaldi's is popular among college students.
"Kaldi's is on some of the big universities up in St. Louis, and they are our biggest accounts," Green said. "We hope to make MSU as big of an account as the two universities up there."
The Kaldi's in both the PSU and Meyer Library will be fully functioning by the end of January, Green said.
