Letter: Thanks to the pride band, supporters
Issue date: 1/18/08 Section: Opinion
I would like to give my thanks and appreciation to each and every member of the Pride Band, as well as the staff and all those who've been supporting us. It's been an honor greater than I feel I have deserved, performing and working with and alongside all of you this marching season.
You've all demonstrated both the kindness and the wisdom to both put up with me and alternately to put your foot down when it mattered. Being able to enjoy the results of our labor in California has been one of the proudest moments of my life.
While I'm on the topic of how awesome the band is, I have a suggestion to the university. Next fall, have the sports teams play at OUR events, since we're obviously the main draw. More students will show up without even giving away seats for free, general ticket sales will increase from all the buzz and you won't have to worry about covering your butt on gambling that sports income will continue to substantially provide for the university's revenue. The revenue issue, I suspect, is the root cause of the hubbub over student attendance this past semester. Sincerely,
Brett Leeper

P.S. Thanks also to the encouraging onlookers at our performances in California, and bonus points to those who didn't mistakenly cheer for Mizzou instead.
