Struggle to approve justices a point of contention

The failure to approve two new associate justices to Missouri State's Campus Judicial Board has divided the Student Government Association and could ultimately delay the upcoming elections for student body president and vice president. Resolution SB Spring 2008-06, Confirmation of Campus Judicial Board Associate Justices, has failed four times in the past two Senate meetings.

MSU receives service award

Missouri State University was awarded the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction award by The Corporation for National and Community Service for the university's service efforts, especially to disadvantaged youth. Missouri State is one of 127 colleges and universities who received the Honor Roll with Distinction award.

Survey to study views on international students

Professor: We are hoping for candid responses

Two professors began an online survey at Missouri State Tuesday that will analyze American students' opinions toward international students and international experience. Mahua Barari, a professor of economics, and Corinne Karuppan, a professor of management, were appointed Provost Fellows for International Education and Partnerships for this academic year.

A trick to quick sobriety??TV station says no

A local news station broadcast its tests on Sobrietol, a new supplement whose creators claim will lower blood alcohol level as alcohol is being digested in the body. The experiment, conducted by KY3's Ethan Forhetz and the station's producers, suggested that people may want to think twice before trusting in the powdery mix's ability to sober up the body, especially before driving while intoxicated.

Dance company promotes literacy through concert

Inertia Dance Company will host a dance concert Friday and Saturday to help develop their public service initiatives in the community. "The main purpose of Inertia is to help promote literacy and creative movement in children," company manager Sandra Lopez said.

Group encourages debt control, freezing cards

A Missouri State student organization encouraged students to take control of their financial future and "Freeze Up Debt" by literally freezing their credit cards on Wednesday. Students in Free Enterprise handed out coffee, hot chocolate, chips and plastic baggies that included directions for freezing cards in the Plaster Student Union.
