Two motor vehicle thefts, which happened in different lots on Missouri State University’s campus, were reported Friday, Jan. 17 by the university.

At 8:40 p.m. Friday, the MSU community received an email stating two vehicles had been stolen. The first theft occurred on Jan. 13 and was reported by a student who claimed their car had been taken from Lot 21, which is north of Hutchens House.

The second theft allegedly transpired Jan. 17. A student reported a vehicle missing from Lot 15, east of JQH Arena.

Both students said their cars were locked when left. The thefts were caught on campus security cameras, the email read. The Springfield Police Department is investigating both events.

Campus security reminds students, staff and visitors on campus to lock their vehicles and remember to remove valuable items.
