Despite winning the first two sets, the Missouri State volleyball team lost 3-2 to DePaul in its second game of the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational.

The Bears came out and dominated the first two sets over the Blue Demons. The scores were close, but the Bears’ play looked comfortable compared to the Blue Demons. They won the first set 25-20.

In the second set, the Blue Demons found a spark late and forced the Bears to fight for a win. After trailing for most of the set, they tied the Bears at 24. MSU went on to win 26-24.

The Blue Demons weren’t satisfied, though. They battled back and won the third and fourth sets.

In the fourth set, the Bears looked frazzled and returned to their first-set style of play from Friday night. DePaul was quicker to capitalize and won 25-15.

Both teams had high energy in the fifth set.

It was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than three.

DePaul went on to win the fifth set 16-14 for the 3-2 win.

Sophomore Chloe Rear recorded a triple-double with 10 kills, 33 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Amelia Flynn had 19 kills and 11 digs in the match.

The Blue Demons won all three of their games at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational.

The Bears will play again tonight at 7 p.m. against Southeast Missouri State.
