The Missouri State volleyball Bears are hosting Southern Illinois and Evansville this weekend at Hammons Student Center, marking the first home Missouri Valley Conference matches of the season.
At 6-7, the Bears begin on Friday at 7 p.m. against Southern Illinois, which carries in an impressive 11-1 overall record. After dropping their season-opener, the Salukis have since fired off 11 straight wins, compiling an MVC-leading 0.272 hitting figure from the offense and holding opponents to an MVC-best 0.133 hitting percentage on defense.
Missouri State leads the all-time series at 45-15 and have been victorious 14 out of the last 15 matches.
Missouri State will then play Evansville on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Purple Aces are 5-9 this season, yet they’re 1-1 in conference play and are never a team to be taken lightly.
The Bears have only lost once to Evansville since 1999 and are 35-2 all-time against them.
The Bears opened up conference play last weekend, going 1-1. After losing in five sets to Creighton, they rebounded to sweep Drake, 3-0.
