Almost two weeks removed from the issuing of several penalties from the NCAA, the Missouri State Bears volleyball team looks to complete this regular season and continue to build their team with second-season head coach Steven McRoberts. 

The NCAA announced Thursday the Missouri State women’s volleyball program committed numerous rules violations during the tenure of former head coach Melissa Stokes and was assessed with several penalties.

Kicking off Missouri Valley Conference play last weekend, the Missouri State Bears volleyball team split their two games against the Illinois State Redbirds and the Bradley University Braves. 

After a month of facing non-conference competition, the Missouri State Bears had a chance to see how they’d challenge against their Missouri Valley Conference opponents this weekend. 

On Saturday afternoon, the Missouri State women’s volleyball team concluded their season with a 2-0 record after defeating the University of Central Arkansas with a 3-1 final score. 

This past Sunday afternoon officially marked the start of the fall 2020 volleyball season for the MSU Bears. 

The Missouri State fall sports conference seasons have been pushed to the spring, allowing teams to adjust to the new procedures involving COVID-19. 

The Missouri State women’s beach volleyball team’s struggles continued this weekend as they dropped both matches against nationally-ranked opponents. The first match of Saturday was against the No. 1 Louisiana State Tigers, the second against No. 16 Texas Christian Horned Frogs.
