What do Standard staff members do?
Editors: Plan print and online coverage. Assign and edit stories, supervise reporters, design pages, write headlines, and manage the website. Editors are usually veteran staff members who have held other positions with The Standard.
Copy editors: Edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation and Associated Press style. Check facts. Work with reporters to ensure accuracy.
Reporters: Cover events, write precedes, do in-depth and investigative reporting and write features (profiles, color stories, human-interest stories, historical stories, etc.). Reporters are sometimes responsible for covering specific beats, such as campus safety, student government, arts and entertainment, or sports. Reporters also have the opportunity to help produce multimedia content for the website.
Photographers: Photograph news, sports and feature assignments. Photographers also have the opportunity to help produce multimedia content for the website.
Graphic designers: Editorial designers work on news illustrations and infographics. Advertising designers create ads for The Standard's advertising clients.
Advertising representatives: Sell advertising and provide customer service to The Standard's advertising clients.
Delivery workers: Deliver newspapers to locations on and around the MSU campus.
